Who is responsible

RotMG Bot (the "bot") and this website are operated by Slidein, established in Poland, who is the data controller for the processing described here. Reach us through the RotMG Bot Discord server, or a direct message to slidein on Discord.

What the bot processes

The bot only receives data that Discord sends with a slash command: your Discord user ID and username, the server and channel the command was used in, and the command with its options. It never reads messages in your channels; it does not request the permission that would allow that.

Every command

The bot uses the command data to answer you. It also writes a technical log line for each command (the command and its options, your Discord username and user ID, the server name and ID, and any error), and posts the same information to a private channel that only we can see. We use this to keep the bot working, find bugs and prevent abuse.

Lookups (`/player`, `/guild`, `/online`, `/item`, `/dungeon`)

The name you type is used to fetch a public page from RealmEye or the community wiki. RealmEye sees the request coming from our server, not from you. Results are cached for a short time so repeated lookups are fast, then discarded. Information shown about other players is public RealmEye data; the bot does not build profiles of anyone.

Account linking (`/link`)

We store your Discord user ID, the in-game name you linked and when you linked it. To verify the link we read your public RealmEye description looking for the one-time code. The link stays until you run /unlink or ask us to remove it.

Trade board (`/marketplace`)

An offer stores your Discord user ID, your linked in-game name as it was when you posted, the items and quantities, and when it was created and expires. Offers are visible to every user of the bot in every server, together with your in-game name and the "last seen" time shown on your public RealmEye page. Offers are deleted when they expire (14 days) or when you delete them.

Realm Runs (`/rotmg`)

Your game state is stored against your Discord user ID: character, level, stats, vault, cooldowns, the outcome of each run and your ranking. The leaderboard shows your linked in-game name. Game data is kept while you play and deleted on request.

Server settings (`/settings`)

A server's default guild is stored with the server ID, the chosen guild name, the user ID of the administrator who set it and the time. It is kept until it is changed or we are asked to remove it.

Why we may process this (legal bases)

Answering commands, linking, the trade board and Realm Runs: to provide the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
Technical logs and abuse prevention: our legitimate interest in running a reliable, safe service (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Website analytics: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

Discord delivers your commands and our replies under its own privacy policy.
RealmEye and the community wiki receive page requests from our server for the names you look up. They do not receive your Discord identity.
Our hosting provider stores the bot's database and logs on our behalf.
Google receives website analytics data only after you accept it on this site (see below).

We do not sell personal data, do not use it for advertising and do not share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Linked account: until you /unlink or ask us to delete it.
Trade offers: deleted at expiry (14 days) or when you delete them.
Realm Runs progress and server settings: while in use; deleted on request.
Technical logs: only as long as needed for troubleshooting and abuse prevention, then deleted.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy of the data you gave us. You can also complain to a supervisory authority - in Poland the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), or the authority in the country where you live.

/unlink removes your link immediately and "My offers" on the trade board lets you delete your offers. For anything else, including deleting your Realm Runs data or log entries, message us through the RotMG Bot Discord server, or a direct message to slidein on Discord. Because we identify you by your Discord account, a request sent from that account is what lets us match it to your data; we answer within a month.

Children

The bot is for people who are allowed to use Discord, which requires a minimum age of 13 or higher depending on your country. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is stored on a server under our control and travels to and from Discord and RealmEye over encrypted connections. Only we have access to the database and logs. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that stored data will never be lost or accessed without authorisation.

This website

The website is a static page. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and capacity, under its own terms. Fonts and images are served from the site itself; nothing is loaded from third parties by default.

If you accept the analytics prompt, we load Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and buttons are used. Google sets cookies (such as _ga) and receives your IP address, truncated, along with technical details of your browser. Your choice is stored in your browser under analytics-consent. If you decline, nothing is loaded and no cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time: . Google's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the bot changes. The date at the top shows the last change, and material changes will be mentioned in the bot's changelog.
